scorpion fish @ Pandan Mangroves 30Mar2011

This tiny scorpionfish which was about 1cm long was found on the Pandan Mangrove mudflat during the MegaMarine survey well away from the usual coastal shores the adult fish is usually seen at. Amazing how juvenile or 'baby' fish can be found taking refuge on mudflats! On a previous mangrove mudflat survey on Pulau Ubin, the MegaMarine team had found a baby octopus!

This is perhaps indicative that mangrove mudflats can and do support a much wider 'pool' of organisms that first appears to the casual observer.
