Had a quick night walk on the newly-opened (02Jan2012) Berlayar Creek mangrove boardwalk.

An impressive entrance point just around from the Labrador MRT station.
Bet it'll look even better once the planted trees grow and spread their shade.

NO - biking, camping, fires, fishing/poaching, releasing or feeding the animals!
The mangrove can survive well by itself ... provided visitors take care of it.

The hum of the Club's generators/fans was a bit LOUD.
This drummed out hearing the mangrove sounds as one got closer. The parts further away provided one with sounds of water splashes and the rustling of unseen mangrove denizens.
No chance of hearing anything but the generators/fans
(and background music) as you get closer to the Club.

I bet the mangrove trees look nice when lighted up from that side but all you get to see from the boardwalk is BLINDING BRIGHT WHITE spotlights.
(hint : perhaps a little dimming is in order?)

There were other people already exploring the boardwalk too including some out for a night jog.

and...oh.. (gasp!!) ...
... looks like someone left behind some fishing line... :(
Hope that person realised he/she should not fish along the walk.
Perhaps the fisherman saw the infographic and decided to pay attention to it :)
finally, a bug ... looked like a large long-legged mozzie though.
There were quite a few of these under the guardrails.
Some were doing a crazy gyrating motion...

some sea almond (ketapang) leaves.
I would imagine that the leaves will leaf (pun intended) their mark on the boardwalk making it look rustic once the tannins in the leaves seep out. Although the 'planks' look like they are made of wood, they are probably made of a concrete-composite mix much like those lining the boardwalk at Chek Jawa.

back at the entrance...which incidentally is the only real shelter along the mangrove boardwalk.

What a nice boardwalk! Definitely will be a hit with courting couples
and it is hoped a miss with the ubiquitous fishing enthusiasts.
p.s. no dolphins were harmed during the walkabout
