white-bellied blind snake @ Ubin 23July2011

Came across roadkill 'probably by bicycle' beside the road close to Ubin town.
It was about 36.5cm long.

the head ... with very tiny eyes...and a very tiny mouth...

the pointed tail end which may help to serve as an anchor point for this burrowing snake to transfer muscular pressure to its head when burrowing headlong into soil.

the snake was measured at the NParks' Volunteer Hub by Lioe

about 36.5cm when stretched out straight.

in cheap white wine (i.e. alcohol) used as a preservative

note the shiny patches on the outer skin....could this snake be ready to shed its old skin? Normally the upper half should be a nice even black.

the specimen will eventually be passed on to the RMBR.
